Hello, I'm SSG Brent N Bretz US Army Sniper (retired) and have experienced first hand
the benefits and sacrifice of war. After I was seriously injured in Iraq Dec 2004 I was exposed
to a sacrifice that I had not had the foresight to see. Over the last 2 1/2 years I have gone
through an extensive regiment of surgeries and therapy as I continue to recover from my injuries.
A key component during my recovery has been the support of my family. My family has had to endure
many of their own sacrifices in order to assist me with mine.
However, some of these burdens were
greatly reduced with the support and assistance we received from non-profit organizations and
individuals. As I have continued to make progress, I have found an overwhelming desire to give
back in this same spirit of compassion. The best way I thought to do this was to create
Salute A Soldier Foundation. My hope and aspirations with this non profit foundation is to
increase community awareness and create opportunities for people to assist in the financial,
emotional and spiritual needs to those who have served and sacrificed so much for this great country.
